1) municipal office : The city of Vega awarded the energy services company $20-million contract to manage the heating operations for 200 schools and municipal offices.

2) skyrocket : The advertisement of the new smartphone attracted much public attention; consequently, the pre-order sales skyrocketed.

3) vacant lot : Having closely examined all possible sites for the new headquarters, the firm chose the large vacant lot in the Oxford Valley.

1)「市役所」ベガ市がそのエネルギーサービス会社と結んだ20,000,000ドルの契約は、200の学校と市役所の暖房設備の運用管理だ。地方選挙は municipal election、市営バスは municipal bus、地方自治体は municipality です。

2)「急上昇する」新しいスマートフォンの広告は大いに世間の注目を集め、その結果、先行予約販売数が急増した。同意語に soar がありますね。Prices are skyrocketing.(物価はうなぎ登りだ)

3)「空き地」新しい本社の候補となる場所を全て入念に精査した上で会社が選んだのは、オックスフォードバレーにある広大な空き地だった。She parked her car in a vacant lot.(彼女は車を空き地に駐車した) vacant は、vacant house (空き家)、vacant seat (空席) などのように色々使えますね。
