今日はパート7によく出る単語を見ていきましょう(^^)

1) epicenter : The epicenter was roughly 500 miles off the coast.

2) urgent : It has not been determined that any sea level changes will occur, but the warning is urgent and is made for the safety of all coastal residents.

3) undersea : An undersea earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale was registered at 6:50 a.m.

では意味を確認しましょう(^^)

1)「震源地」震源地は約500マイル沖です。「中心点」の意味で使われる事もあります。The epicenter of House decision making is the Steering and Policy Committee.(国会の意思決定の中心は運営・政策委員会である)

2)「緊急の」潮位の変化が起こるかどうかはまだわかりませんが、警報は緊急を要するもので、沿岸部の住民の安全のために発令されています。Urgent business brought him here. (急用で彼はこちらに来た) 無生物主語のカッコいい文ですね(^^) urgent meeting (緊急会議)、urgent order (急ぎの注文)

3)「海底の」海底で発生した地震の震度はリヒター値6.6で、発生時刻は午前6時50分のことです。The construction of the undersea tunnel has just got under way. (海底トンネルの建設はちょうど始まったところだ) under way (進行中で) という表現も頻出です！Negotiations are already under way.(交渉はすでに始まっている)
